Jewellery Care

Gold Plating
Gold plating is a semi permanent finish and with time and wear it will slowly rub off to reveal the silver underneath. To keep your gold plating pristine for as long as possible avoid getting perfume on the jewellery and remove before washing your hands. Do not use silver polishing cloths on gold plating as they are embedded with an abrasive chemical, use a dry soft cloth and buff very gentle if needed. We cannot estimate how long the gold plating will last on your jewellery as there are many factors that influence it but see below for our manicure service.

Manicure
To keep your pigeon looking beautiful, we offer a manicure service for her gold-plated nails.
This beauty service includes a professional clean, polish, and fresh manicure.

We offer a complimentary FREE manicure within the first year of purchase.
You just pay the return postage: UK £9/Int £18.

The free offer is available exclusively on jewellery bought directly from us, not through other shops, platforms or third parties. The free manicure is available on gold plated nails only and excludes fully gold plated necklaces and rings.

But don't worry, you can purchase a nail manicure service for £50 plus return postage (UK £9/Int £18) thereafter.
Fully gold plated jewellery replating requests are quoted individually.

A manicure service usually takes approx. 8-10 weeks.

Good Practice

Hand wash, perfumes, chlorine, detergents, and oils can sometimes cause tarnishing or damage to the surface finish of your jewellery. Apply scents or cosmetics before you put on any jewellery to avoid this. If something strange has happened to your jewellery email us a picture. We can usually return her to her former glory with a good polish.  It is sensible not to wear jewellery whilst swimming, bathing, showering, doing household tasks or whilst exercising. Store your jewellery separately so it doesn’t rub and scratch against each other.

Stones
Gemstones have been growing for sometimes millions of years, they've been through a lot and are pretty tough. For more information about the stones in your jewellery have a look at our stones page. They should be strong and secure in your jewellery for many years to come but if something does happen just let us know. If your stone develops a little rattle she might need tightening inside her claws. If your stone has taken a knock and has a chip or some damage and needs replacing or recutting/polishing send us a photo and we'll see what we can do. We will quote for a repair once we've had a look at the piece in person, we may need to get a price on a replacement stone if we do not have one.

Cleaning

All jewellery can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a toothbrush to get in behind any stones. Then rinse thoroughly, dry well and finish by buffing with a soft dry cloth. Use extra care to buff very gently and minimally over any gold plated areas as this will wear on the finish.

Silver Oxidisation

Silver is a metal that will naturally tarnish and oxidise over time. It may get a little duller and sometimes can develop a yellow/brownish tinge. This can usually be brought back to life with a good polish. There are silver polishing cloths that may help or contact us for advise.

We want you to enjoy your jewellery for years and years to come, if you have any questions please get in touch and we will do our best to help.
